Mark Crew first met Dan Smith in 2010, when the latter played him a set of songs he’d be working on from his laptop. Together they started work on what would turn in to Bad Blood, the debut album from Bastille that led to Brit wins and Grammy nominations. The album went on to sell 4.5 Million units worldwide, and spawned the 6X RIAA Platinum hit ‘Pompeii’, as well as UK #1 hit Of The Night (taken from one of their now deleted ‘Other People’s Heartache’ albums), ‘Flaws’ (RIAA Gold), and US alternative radio hit ‘Bad Blood’ (RIAA Gold). The partnership they formed continues to this day, with Mark producing their subsequent studio albums Wild World (which included the hit ‘Good Grief’), Doom Days (‘Quarter Past Midnight’, ‘Joy’, ‘Another Place’), and ‘Give Me The Future’.

In 2013 they together formed Best Laid Plans Records with Mark’s production partner Dan Priddy, to sign Mark’s friend Rory Graham who was performing under the name Rag’n’Bone Man. They released the Wolves EP as a free download in 2014. Columbia won the subsequent industry race to sign Rag’n’Bone Man, and after another EP his debut album, Human, was released in 2017. The album, which has sold over 3.5M copies to date, features ten of Mark and Dan Priddy’s productions (including ‘Bitter End’ and ‘Grace’), and eight of their songs.

As well as Bastille and Rag’n’Bone Man, Mark has produced a number of other artists.  He started working with The Wombats on their 2015 album Glitterbug, which debuted at #5 UK and #2 Australia and included the hit single ‘Greek Tragedy’. The relationship continued for Mark to produce their subsequent two albums ‘Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life’ (‘Turn’, Cheetah Tongue, ‘Lemon To A Knife Fight’), ‘Fix Yourself, Not The World’ (UK #1 album).

He has also worked on a number of productions and songs with James Arthur (the hit single ‘Empty Space’, as well as ‘At My Weakest’ plus the album tracks ‘Fall’, ‘Unconditionally’ and ‘If We Can Get Through This We Can Get Through Anything’), Katy Perry (‘Act My Age’), Tears For Fears (the single ‘I Love You But I’m Lost’), Freya Ridings (the single ‘Castles’, ‘Love Is Fire’), James Blunt (the singles ‘Unstoppable’, ‘Champions’ and ‘I Told You’) Louis Tomlinson (the single ‘Two Of Us’), MIKA’s album ‘My Name Is Michael Holbrook’, Ashnikko (“Deal With It”), Finn Askew (“Egotism”), he wrote songs for Rag’n’Bone Man’s second album (incl. “Anywhere Away From Here, ft. Pink”), and co-wrote and co-produced ‘Run Into Trouble’ by Alok x Bastille.

Mark works from One Eyed Jacks, his studio complex in South London.
